This should be the last post of the holiday. It’s set to publish at 11pm on the last day, so I’m writing this throughout the holiday… This post is about general bits and bobs from the holiday including books we’ve read and other stuff that doesn’t warrant a full post on its own.
Headaches and Broken Tooth…
Before the holiday I’d been getting pretty nasty headaches, I’ve been back to the opticians, and it may be eye strain, or something else. I’ve only had a couple of headaches during the holiday fortunately, and one was while watching Barbie…
I also broke a tooth… well, the side of one of my back teeth has broken off and there is a gap under my tooth. It’s new damage because the nerve is very much alive and I’m getting a lot of food stuck in there. I’ve bought tooth picks and floss to try and keep it clear, but it’s not comfortable after I’ve eaten - I guess it’s a trip to the dentist when we get back.
Animals
We’ve had a couple of messages from 4Paws Kennels about Poppy, apparently she is doing really well and is no trouble at all. We’re very pleased as it was her first long holiday too, plus we’ve never used 4Paws before, but found them through recommendation.
The cats are well, I think they’re enjoying Poppy not being around, plus we left the AC on in the living room, so they’ve been nice and cool while the rest of the south east of England has been sweating…

Unusual Bug
We saw this fly / bee / wasp looking bug a few times, it definitely doesn’t look like something to trifle with.
So, with the help of Google Lens, I looked it up and apparently it’s a Robber Fly, or an Assassin Fly. Carnivorous and attacks it’s pray in mid-flight, and also gives a nasty bite to people, if they try and handle it.
No Molesters
An odd “Do Not Disturb” sign for the door. Does it translate to “Please no molesters?”….
No it actually translates to “Please do not annoy” or really “Please do not disturb”, but it did make us smile…
